Wildwood Buggy Bash

Just washed off the desert dust and Adam headed down to Wildwood, read his report.

It’s only been two weeks since I’ve stepped off the plane from NABX, and i’m already finding myself day dreaming about the weekend I spent at the WildWood Buggy Bash in New Jersey on the East Coast of America.
WWBB is the second or third largest landkite gathering in the United States.  This year was my first time attending the event.  Kite buggiers have been gathering for years on the local beaches to ride the spring winds before all of the tourists come into town in the summer months.
This years event was sponsored by East Coast Kite Sports and their team.  They organized three days of riding, BBQ, and a kite raffle which was highly anticipated.
The bash was primarily for buggiers, but landboarding is starting to gain a hold out there, and I was able to put my newly learned freestyling skills to practice.  Freestyling in the sea breeze was loads of fun.
I met up with Peter Lynn buggy team rider, and East coast kite sports team rider Todd Stevick while I was out there.  He was one of the Events lead organizers along side Rich Miller also from ECKS.  There were more than 40 buggy riders and a handful of landboarders attending this year.
It was very cold, and the winds ranged from 20-30 on Friday and 25-40mph Saturday.  This made for epic riding, but not many beginners really had a chance to ride since the winds were nuking.  I had the pleasure of teaching a few landboarders some pointers while I was there.
Overall it was a great weekend, but i’m glad to be back home to warmer weather.  Everyone had a great time, and a special thanks to ECKS for the event planning and for the photos they have taken.
Hope to see you all next year! Adam Bedinghaus
