PKA Round 3

The third round of the PKA racing series held at Pembrey beach, Wales 21^st-22^nd May 2011

Arrived at Pembrey Park at around 10am loaded up my buggy with my kit for the long walk down the beach to the pit area, about 11/2 mile, the wind was cross shore at about 20-25mph, we had a pilots briefing at 12 noon and started the first race 30mins later, this was a 40min enduro .Adrian and I got off the start gate in the front of the pack and it was a close fight for all of the race between Adrian and me. I started on the 5.4m Vapor but the wind started to build so after 5 laps I decided to come in the change down to the 4.5m Vapor. Adrian 1st Ryan 2nd.

The second race of the day was a 3 lap race and we both went out on the 3.2m Vapor it was neck and neck through the whole race, I took Adrian on the wet he took me on the dry. Adrian 1^st Ryan 2^nd.

We then went back to the pembrey park where we were all camping for the night for a bit of a party, as we do after a hard day on the beach.

Day 2

Racing began at about 12.30 winds were 25-30mph cross shore we both used the 2.7m Vapor all day. We did 4 races on that day as conditions were really good, all the races were 3 lap and again all the races were really close between Adrian and Ryan.

On the third race Adrian lost one of his wheels when the bolt sheared off and the wheel rolled behind the rocks, so for the 4^th race Adrian had to borrow a buggy from someone else to be able to race. This race was the best race it couldn’t have been any closer, in fact it was almost a photo finish at the finish line but Ryan won by about 2” as his front wheel crossed the line first.
