NABX 2011: Sooo, the first miles of ridin, stoked!

NABX 2011 - After arriving Thursday evening I woke up early on Friday, went out for some coffee and breakfast and got a cab to the RV rental to pick up my home for the next days.

After getting some necessities like water, food and beer I checked out of the hotel and drove to A Wind of Change where we’ve sent the gear to, I was just done loading everything up into the RV (you wouldn’t believe how low the thing stood on its suspension with some 500KG worth of buggy and kite gear in it) when our local hero Kent (owner A Wind of Change) came round.

After catching up we contacted Brian Holgate (local teamrider) to arrange meeting up at Primm.

When we met up we decided to head out to Harpers drylake, some 200 miles further east towards Bakersfield.

After the drive, which by the way was a bit scary, driving an RV through crosswinds isn’t fun, we took a right onto what looked like an endless road into nothing we turned onto dirtroads and had to search a bit for the drylake entrance.

When we got there most folks were out riding so we didn’t waste tame to get out the buggy’s and headed out to, how awesome to be back riding on this surface!

After riding well into sundown we got back into camp where we were welcomed by the NABX crew as if we were long lost family, what a fantastic group of people.

Went to bed rosy and happy to wake up to a windy (30 knots with gusts upto 40’s) but beautiful scene, after some food, ride again!

I was out until about 4pm when I had to head back to pick up Jeroen Pigmans from the airport.

Jeroen and me were a bit concerned because John Penders was supposed to come in at around the same time but we didn’t hear anything from him and we weren’t sure of his flightnumber so we didn’t know where John was, after waiting for about two hours we decided to head to Primm, I was needing a shower badly!

We got to the hotel and after settling in we went down to the hanging tree bar to chill for a bit and after some time some guys with PL apparel found us, Mark and Ziggy from Canada found John lost at the airport and gave him a ride, a great example of all of us being one big family, helping eachother out.

Of to bed, good winds on Sunday.
