This past weekend the final round of the German GPA KLB Championships.
For the fifth year it was held at the airfield in Wanlo, Monchengladbach and the grass runway there provides more than enough space for free riding, competitions and trainer courses.
Friday, usually counts as training day for the riders and we were lucky enough to have some wind to ride, and at sundown the sky looked wicked so we got some pics before it was time to eat and enjoy the evening with all the riders.
Saturday we had marginal winds, somewhere between 5 and 8 knots, so everyone was flying their biggest Kites. First up was the racing, and ofcourse it was no surprise that Nick Stimpel again won the two final races of the season, Nick proved unstoppable throughout the season and with only two points he was comfortably leading the ranks. The first 2 podiumplaces of the weekend were in the pocket for the racing discipline, the top spot of the weekend and number one overall.
Congratulations Nick, awesome stuff!
The rest of the day it looked like the wind was not playing along so the decision was made to do the Freestyle comps the next day as the forecasts for Sunday looked a bit better.
This gave us time to play around, and Florian Giehl our rider from Berlin had built something else… a tandem landboard! Superfunny to see two guys controlling the same board. (or at least, trying to J)

On Sunday the Freestyle competition was held and there was little more wind than Saturday which again meant that everyone was riding huge Kites. Jeroen Pigmans was flying the 24m Charger, even though the 24m is huge it is still lot faster through the air than all the other huge kites out there and that means that when you send the 24 hard you can get some good boost and airtime out of it even in sub 8Kn conditions. Twinskin low wind performance proved again!
Joey Oldenburger was riding the 15m tube again and proved too strong for the competition and tricked & handle-passed his way to the top spot for the weekend and a very good 3rd placing in the overall ranking.
Congrats Joey!
Romain Feaux has been riding consistently throughout the season and got a well deserved number one spot in the international ranking. It goes without saying that we are extremely proud of our riders, not only for their awesome results but also for their commitment in having a good time and sharing their passion at every event they go to.
Well done guys!
