German Buggy Championship Final at Borkum

Special conditions and hard winds were the setting for the final races at Borkum.

Some decisions made the last race to a special one. Besides the German Riders in the Master Class also Fast Arie was on the start and as always he played around the top three. Sebastian Thomes, listed in the overall ranking at the 2nd place and Bastian Bischoff on 4th are started to stand up their top rankings. Nick was also safe in the Top Ten before the races. At the Open Class Calle Redecker leaded with many points in front of the rest so he should relaxed enough to win the Open Series 2011.

At the Junior Class Dominik van Boven leaded with only 3 points so it was going to be a hard fight for him.

The terrain in Borkum is completely different to the other locations and because of this nobody could be sure about their placement. Soft dunes change with hard sand so the material and the right pressure on the tyres can decide between top or flop. Additional the course was not so technical like the other ones. With more than 80km/h the riders banged from the hard sand at the beach in the soft dunes and flew with spectacular jumps through the desert. These conditions were not made for all riders so the results were strongly shifitng.

Only Bastian and Arie kept their competitiveness and earned the 3rd and 2nd place at the weekend ranking. Bastian also went on the podium in the all over result, earned the 3rd place and finished the season 2011 as the best German PL Buggyrider. Congratulations! Sebastian lost his placement on a 7th place at the weekend and finished the season at 4th. A really good result but the podium was gone…   At the Open Calle save his overall leading with a 3rd place at the weekend. Congratulations for winning the Open Men!

At the Junior Class Dominik could not hold his leading position and landed on the 2nd place at the weekend and also in the overall ranking. This is really hard for him because only the 1st Junior rider has the option to start in the Master Class next year.  A surprise was the result of Jan Laurens Redecker, the younger brother of Open Men winner Calle. He finished the weekend races on the 3rd place although he didn´t start at Sunday!
